Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results; we do not keep or log those terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain a message sent by email as needed to answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page causes our servers to receive routine technical information about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics services use them to combine traffic information, such as popular pages and exit points. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile or sell a database of personal criminal records. Our content identifies the Charlton County Sheriff, local courts, GBI/GCIC and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry as official custodians. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes and apply their own privacy policies to submitted data. Each provider controls its retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff, court, state agency, legal-aid or outside search websites. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable standard safeguards protect collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. We will remove such information when notified.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with a visitor's location and applicable law. Georgia government records are governed in part by the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§50-18-70 through 50-18-77, while criminal-history dissemination and correction are addressed by O.C.G.A. §§35-3-34 through 35-3-37. Those public-record laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. A new effective date will appear here when an updated version is posted.
